Small Ways to Stay Healthy

5 Small Ways to Stay Healthy

June 20, 2021

Health is wealth. While it might not always be the easiest, taking care of your health not only benefits you now, but it pays off in the long run. Although maintaining your health is a noble goal, making time to do it isn’t always easy. We all lead busy lives so here are five small and easy ways to stay healthy.

Drink Your Water

Drinking enough water is so important. It not only keeps you hydrated, but it also flushes all the trash and toxins out of your system. How you drink your water is important too. Drinking water, first thing in the morning when you wake up, flushes those toxins out of your system that built up overnight while you were sleeping.

Catch Some Sun

Sun is a natural source of Vitamin D. For those of us melanated folks, sun gives us natural energy. The more melanin you have, the more sunlight you need (upwards of two hours per day). Sun light is also important for helping maintain your mental health.

Walk It Out

Walking is another small and easy way to stay healthy. Walking is free99 so there’s no excuse not to get out and do it. Even if you commit 30 minutes per day to walking, the results can be amazing. Walking is not only good for your physical health, but your mental health as well. There’s nothing like a good walk to clear your mind. You may not have time for a full on workout, but you can always make time for a good walk.

Eat Your Fruit and Veggies

No matter how cliché it might sound, eating your fruits and veggies is a small way to stay healthy. What you put in your body is hella important. If you’re constantly eating salty, sugary, highly processed foods, it’s going to negatively impact your health. Personally, I start the day with a fruit smoothie (mango, pineapple, blueberries, oat milk, a few ice cubes, a splash of agave syrup and spinach in my handy dandy Nutri-bullet) and I find that I eat less throughout the day.

Get Some Sleep

I’m not team no sleep. I strongly believe in laying my ass down and getting some sleep. Getting enough sleep is essential to staying healthy. Your body and brain recharge and repair themselves while you’re sleeping. Again, another free99 solution to staying healthy.
