Another Way of Being – F*ck the System

June 20, 2021

One thing that the pandemic did was force me into another way of being. Before the pandemic, I was working 60 hours Monday through Friday, but getting about 20 hours of sleep during the same timeframe. I was mad efficient, but it wasn’t healthy or sustainable. The pandemic forced me to slow down and take a look at my life and how I was operating. While my actions were completely in line with our hustle and grind system, it wasn’t aligned with my well-being. I’ve found a new way of being, so f*ck the system. Here’s how I’m doing it:

Rest

One saying I’ve always hated was, “I’ll sleep when I’m dead.” Not getting enough rest will get you there fast. One of the biggest changes I made was getting more rest. Since the gyms were closed down, I had more time to get more sleep.

Slow Down

The pandemic forced me to slow all the way down. Since I now had to work from home and couldn’t go to the gym or any other place, for that matter, I had more time to just enjoy being. I was able to sit and look at my daily practices that just weren’t working for me and that I didn’t want to go back to.

Unplug From the Noise

The new normal allowed me to see just how much noise we’re surrounded by, daily. From social media to the news, it was too much. So I made a conscious effort to unplug from the noise. Anything important that I needed to know always found me. Unplugging from the noise brought about a real sense of peace.

Surround Yourself with Joy

I’ve now made it a point to surround myself with joy. I wasn’t one to tolerate being in places or doing things I didn’t want to do before, but even less so, now. For me, surrounding myself with joy looks like scented candles burning, always having fresh flowers in my home, group chats with my loved ones and eating well.

Know Yourself, For Yourself

In a system that’s always trying to tell you who you are, how you should look, how you should dress, what you should like, drive, listen to, etc., it’s a real f*ck you to the system and another way of being to know yourself for yourself. Spend time with yourself, get to know yourself, heck, date yourself. Spending time with yourself is the only way to get to know yourself.

What f*ck the system practices have you recently incorporated into your daily life? Let us know, down below.
