We all want more, but are you ready for what you say you want? Most of us think we are, but are we really? Wanting more is fine, but are you prepared for it, if it were to show up? Here are a few things to consider whether you’re ready for what you say you want.
Habits
Do your present habits align with what you say you want? For example, if you say you want to lose 20 lbs. and have washboard abs, does habitually eating potato chips, late at night align with those goals? Ask yourself if your habits are going to get you want you say you want. If they’re not, it’s time to break up with them.
Mindset
Is your mindset aligned with what you say you want? If you say you want a positive life, but constantly have a negative mindset about everything, are you ready for what you say you want? Many times we don’t truly appreciate how powerful a part our mindsets play in our lives. What shows up in our lives usually starts in our minds. So, if your mindset doesn’t align with what you say you want, it’s time to get your mind right.
Emotionally
Are you emotionally prepared for what you say your want? This might not seem relevant, but it is. We seem to think that when we level up everyone will be happy for us. That’s not true. Personally, I witnessed my sister experience some very painful relationship losses before her wedding. Are you emotionally prepared for people who you thought would be in your life forever, to turn their backs on you when you elevate? This is just a little something to think about as you prepare for what you say you want.
Financially
Are you financially ready for what you say you want? You may want to start a family or move into a bigger home, but are you financially ready for those things? Many times increase comes with an increased financial responsibility, as well. As you pursue more, make sure you’ve considered and have prepared for the financial responsibilities associated with your next level.
Character
Last, but certainly not least is whether or not your character is ready for what you say you want. Many of us want larger platforms and to speak to millions, but we have to consider whether our character is ready for primetime. Will more increase and access make you more humble or unbearable? Will a larger platform make you more integral or less honorable? Is your character strong enough to bear the weight of more? This is a serious point to consider in determining whether you’re ready for what you say you want. It only takes a moment to lose everything you’ve worked for because your character isn’t on point.
