Fix Your Focus

They say that what you focus on, you get. So what are you focused on? If you find you’re getting more negative than positive, you might need to fix your focus.

Focus on Positive vs. Negative

Ask any woman what type of life she wants and I guarantee you she won’t say anything negative. So why do we allow negative thoughts to dominate our minds and conversations? There’s a saying – as a woman thinks, so she becomes. So ask yourself, what are you thinking about? Are you thinking more negative thoughts than positive ones? Are you more focused on what brings you pain than what brings you joy? If so, how is that working out for ya? If this sounds familiar it’s time to switch things up – fix your focus to the positive – what you WANT, not what you DON’T WANT. When you feel your thoughts wanting to turn negative, don’t just let them go – take control of those negative thoughts and reroute them to something positive. Just making that small adjustment could not only change your mood, but your life too.

What Others Think of You is None of Your Business

I don’t know if it’s the rise of social media or what, but as women and as a society we focus way too much attention on what others think of us. How many likes did my post get on Instagram? How many shares did my post get on Facebook? Why didn’t anyone like my status? Here’s the thing – not everyone is going to like you and that’s ok. At the end of the day, what others think of you is none of your business. Chances are, if you make it your business, you will spend the rest of your life being miserable. Instead, focus on being the best woman you can be and let the chips fall where they may.

Competition is A Myth – Focus on Your Own Lane

The idea of competition is a myth, created by a scarcity mentality. The idea that, in order for me to win, someone else has to lose. In order for me to be on top, someone else has to be at the bottom. In order for me to be great, someone else has to be mediocre. Well, I’m here to tell you that’s bullsh*t – there’s more than enough light to shine on every one of us; there’s more than enough room at the table for everyone; no one has to be less than for you to be more. You know why? We’re all different. Our lives are all different. No two people are the same – we’re all unique individuals. So why do we buy this idea that there’s only one way to succeed or that our lives all have to look the same? You don’t have to peek over into Sally’s lane to see where she’s at and what she’s doing; focus on your own lane because chances are, you and Sally aren’t even headed in the same direction.

Focus On What You Can Control (And Let The Rest Go)

You can’t control everything. Truth be told, there’s really only one thing that you can control – You; your thoughts, your effort, your attitude, etc. So why spend time focused on people and things you can’t control? After you’ve agonized over it, there’s a good chance that agonizing didn’t change anything. Worrying never fixes anything – fix your focus on what you can control and let the rest go.
