Take Your Eyes off the Crowd

September 22, 2021

It’s hard to make moves when you’re too focused on what everyone else is doing, so take your eyes off the crowd. Social media is a great tool when used properly, but it’s also given us a front row seat into so many other people’s lives. You know what they say – two’s company and three’s a crowd. Now multiple that three times all the folks you follow on the social medias and you’ve really got a crowd. Ignoring the crowd is probably one of the best things you can do and here’s why:

It’s a Distraction

Watching the crowd is a distraction, so fix your focus. You can’t run your own race focused on everyone else’s lane. What could be accomplishing, but aren’t because you’re distracted watching everyone else? While it’s fine for others to inspire you, please don’t get so caught up watching everyone else’s journey that you stay stuck in park and forget to start your own. Ignore the crowd, get focused and be about your business.

Your Path is Unique

Here’s the thing – you’re a unique individual with a unique purpose, so your path is going to be unique too. This is another reason you need to take your eyes off the crowd because following it won’t get you where you need to go. As a matter of fact, watching the crowd will lead you down the wrong path, off course and cost you time and energy to get back on track. Save yourself the headache by taking your eyes off the crowd and focusing on your own path. The crowd can’t lead you where you need to go because it’s never been there.

Follow the crowd? Nah, I’m good.

You’re Not Meant to be a Carbon Copy

Have you ever noticed that in a crowd everybody seems to blend in and no one stands out? As a matter of fact, a lot of people like hanging out in crowds so that they can blend in and avoid standing out. The thing is you’re not meant to be a carbon copy. Out of over 7 billion people on the planet, no one has your same fingerprints or DNA. Why, then, would you think you’re meant to be a carbon copy of anyone else? Yes, the mainstream likes to push the “sameness,” ideology, but trust me, you were created by the Creator to be unique. Why? You’re meant to bless the world with something special that you alone possess. What would you be robbing the world of by following the crowd and copying what everyone else is doing? Buck the system, take your eyes off the crowd and have the confidence to be you.

It Might be Smoke and Mirrors

Wouldn’t you hate to follow a path you think is leading to the penthouse, only to end up in the outhouse? Many times that’s what happens when you follow the crowd. If we’re being honest, many of us are tempted to follow the crowd because we see what looks like success and we want to be successful too. Furthermore, society has taught us that, if we want to be successful, just copy what we see “successful” people do. Unfortunately, all that glitters ain’t gold and all of those who appear successful aren’t. Social media has made it quite easy for folks to pretend to be something they’re not. Some people are really out here scamming, renting cars, houses and clothes to look successful for the ‘gram. So beware: some people in the crowd pretending to be successful might actually just be talented magicians. Take your eyes off the crowd Sis and avoid being catfished.
