5 Ways to Boost Your Mood

August 6, 2021

Here are five ways to boost your mood that are not only simple, but also free99. We probably can all agree the last year and a half has been difficult. So whenever we have an opportunity to experience joy and have a good time, we should take it. Now, without further ado, here are five ways to boost your mood:

Get Some Sun

Have you ever noticed how being outside in the sun makes you feel good? It’s because exposure to sunlight releases a hormone in our brains called serotonin. Serotonin is associated with boosting our moods. So, try to get at least 15 – 30 minutes of sunshine every single day.

Take a Walk

Taking a walk is not only good for your health, but is another way to boost your mood. There’s something about being outside, in nature, that’s refreshing and invigorating. Personally, walking helps me to focus and clear my mind, which always boosts my mood.

Catch a Power Nap (15 minutes)

Don’t sleep on the power nap (cheesy pun intended). If you’re feeling tired and drained, you’d be surprised at how a quick power nap can boost your energy and your mood. Most of us can work a power nap into our day, over our lunch break. Just remember to set your alarm so you don’t oversleep.

Spend Time with Loved Ones

Spending time with loved ones is my favorite mood boost. Holiday season is my favorite time of year. Why? During this time, I get to sit around and talk, laugh, eat and have fun with my family and loved ones. I always leave from these get-togethers happy. Make it a point to regularly carve out time, in your schedule, to spend time with your loved ones.

Listen to Your Favorite Song

Another way to boost your mood is to listen to your favorite song. When I listen to my favorite song, I go all out. If I’m in the car, yes, I’m singing along, out loud. When I’m at home, I’m singing along, in the mirror, having my own personal dance party/concert. Either way, it’s always a good time. Next time you’re feeling low, turn on your favorite song and go all out and then tell me you don’t feel better. At the moment, my favorite song is Looking for Love by Kevin Ross.
