9 Keys to Living Your Best Life

9 Keys to Living Your Best Life

March 6, 2021

You only live once so you might as well make it good, right? Who has time to live less than her best life? You deserve the best life has to offer you, so here are nine keys on how to live your best life.

Love Yourself

The number one key to living your best life is to love yourself. Why? When you love yourself, you know what you deserve, you don’t settle for what doesn’t honor you and you don’t pay attention to negative and worthless opinions.

Love yourself Queen.

Get Clear on Your Vision

Getting clear on your vision is another key to living your best life. You were born to do more than work, pay bills, attend the occasional happy hour and die. You’re here for a purpose. What is your ultimate vision for your life? Getting clear on the vision for your life will give you purpose and purpose is what helps give you something to look forward to.

Stop Rehearsing the Past (No Regrets)

In order to live your best life, you have to stop rehearsing the past. The past is the past. There’s nothing you can do today to change yesterday. What you can do, however, is learn from the past. Reliving the past simply keeps you stuck. When you’re stuck, you can’t move forward. When you’re not moving forward, you can’t live your best life. Learn the lessons from the past and let the rest go.

Your Circle

The people you choose surround yourself with are a major key to you living your best life. The people in your inner circle make a huge impact on your life. So who’s in your circle? Are they people who lift you up, help you grow and hold you accountable or are they people who feed your fears, hold you back and enable your bad choices? In order for you to live your best life you have to surround yourself with a circle that helps make you better and vice versa.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is another key to living your best life. Holding grudges keeps you stuck. Every time you see or think about the person who wronged you, you’re transported right back to the time s/he hurt you, complete with all the emotions that go along with it. Forgiveness really isn’t for the other person as much as it is for you. Forgiveness frees you and helps you move forward with your life. Now, please don’t mistake this as a flippant claim that forgiveness is an easy process; depending on the level to which you were wronged, it could take you some time and therapy in order to do so. Also, just because you forgive doesn’t mean you have to let that person back into your life – forgiveness doesn’t require reconciliation. Forgiveness just means you refuse to allow that person to hold you hostage or live in your head, rent-free.

Positive Attitude

Having a positive attitude is another important key to living your best life. Your attitude is everything. What you think you begin to believe and what you believe also impacts how you feel, so why not think positive thoughts? While it won’t always be easy, maintaining a positive attitude is necessary for a positive life.

Be Patient With the Process

We live in a microwave generation. We want everything quicker, faster, now. Unfortunately, life doesn’t work that way. Some things in life take longer than we expect. When this happens we can be tempted to quit, thinking we must be doing something wrong if it’s taking so long. Don’t give in to that temptation. Learn to be patient with the process you have to go through to get where you’re meant to be. You can’t live your best life if you’re constantly quitting on what will make you better.

Attitude of Gratitude

An attitude of gratitude is a must for living your best life. Life doesn’t owe us anything. If most of us are honest, we have more positive things going for us than negative. Being grateful, even for the little things, helps you keep things in proper perspective. It’s hard to live in negativity when you’re grateful for everything.

Focus on What Matters

With so much noise in the world around us, it’s hard to focus on what matters. There’s always a distraction trying to get us off track and change our focus from what’s important. Focusing on what matters, while hard, is possible. Practicing meditation is one technique that will help you to train your mind to focus.
