Investing in Yourself

We as women tend to invest in everyone and everything before our most important investment – ourselves. Investing in yourself is the best investment you’ll ever make. No, I’m not talking about consuming/material things – bags, shoes, clothes, weekly brunches or the like; I’m talking about real investments that will produce long-term benefits for you mentally, physically, spiritually, financially, professionally and emotionally. While you shouldn’t feel guilty about how much you invest in yourself, doing so doesn’t have to be expensive at all.

 

An investment is defined as, “an act of devoting time, effort or energy to a particular undertaking with the expectation of a worthwhile result.” So what are some ways you can invest in you and achieve worthwhile results? Here are a few ideas on ways you can invest in yourself:

 

Regular rest

Regular exercise/walking/yoga/running/bike riding

Podcasts

e-Courses and master classes

Books/audio books

Healthy eating

Regular massages

Conferences/workshops

Career/life coaching

Stocks, bonds, CDs, IRAs, 401(k)s, savings, emergency savings

Regular doctor/dentist visits

Therapy/counseling

Real estate investing

Travel

Wellness retreats

Networking/relationship building

Spending time with family/friends/loved ones

Learning a new skill or taking up a new hobby

Membership in a professional/career/business organization

Meditation

Drink plenty of water

Buy non-toxic skincare, beauty and feminine care products

Buy non-toxic cleaning products

Track your expenses, set a budget and stick to it

Take your vitamins/wellness supplements

Get out into nature

Journaling

Unplug from the outside world
